Effective August 1, 2010, Victorico P. Vargas will serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad). Mr. Vargas formally takes over the position vacated by Mr. Rogelio L. Singson, who is now Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Vargas was the Business Transformation Head and Senior Vice President of the Human Resources Group of the country’s biggest telecommunications company, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT).
He has over 35 years of experience in the area of human resource management and organization development in various industries including insurance, consumer goods, real estate, banking and finance, and information technology.
Prior to joining PLDT in February 2000, Mr. Vargas served as the Country Human Resources Director of Citibank N.A., Manila and spent two years outside the Philippines as Country Human Resources Director of Citibank, N.A. in Bangkok.
Aside from his corporate affiliations, Mr. Vargas is also President of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP), Vice Chairman of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), and Alternate Governor of the Talk N’ Text Team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
