Non-revenue water (NRW) is water that was treated and “lost” in the pipe network because of leaks and pilferage.
Prior to its re-privatization in 2007, Maynilad had a staggering NRW level of 66%.
The company has since launched an aggressive NRW Management Program that involves pipe replacement, active leakage control, and network diagnostics, among other interventions, thus significantly reducing water losses within its concession area.
