West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has reached more than 5,600 people in Parañaque City with its “Ginhawa Gardening” program—a series of workshops on practical urban gardening techniques to help families grow their own food.
Done in support of the FAITH (Food Always in the Home) Gardens program of Parañaque City, Maynilad has held 14 “Ginhawa Gardening” workshops all over the city where 5,600 participants were taught hydroponics, edible landscaping, and vertical gardening skills that will enable them to grow vegetables in their own backyards. Among those who benefited from the workshops were senior citizens and residents from urban poor communities.
In 2017 alone, Maynilad installed vertical gardens in eight daycare centers in the city, including one at Bernabe III Daycare where Barangay San Dionisio captain Pablo Olivarez was in attendance.
To date, Maynilad has established 24 gardens all over Parañaque City. The company aims to conduct 10 “Ginhawa Gardening” workshops in other areas of its West concession area starting next year.
