West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. was conferred the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) in San Diego, California, USA. Maynilad joined 197 other global companies in receiving the 2022 SAG Award for their outstanding work in Geographic Information System, besting over 300,000 other candidates from around the world. Maynilad GIS head Engr. Juan Paulo De Leon received the award from ESRI Founder and President Jack Dangermond (2nd and 3rd from left, respectively), with Geodata Systems Technologies officers (from left) Leo Pinaroc and Karen Landicho.
Maynilad was cited for successfully leveraging on the ArcGIS Pro platform for its service level indicator maps and field operations dashboard, allowing for proper validation and monitoring of the geographical location of pipes and laterals. Overall enhancements from Maynilad’s Enterprise GIS upgrade resulted in improved operational efficiency, which enabled the company to recover $410,000 in commercial losses from 2021 to Q1 of 2022, and yielded around $50,000 in annual Opex savings. Besides generating savings, Maynilad’s use of Enterprise GIS gave rise to enhanced geographic data for planning and analysis, leading to better service delivery to its 9.9 million customers.
