MAYNILAD WATER SERVICE ADVISORY (April 13, 2018, Friday)

Some Maynilad customers were affected by an emergency service interruption yesterday following the significant drop in raw water allocations for Maynilad’s La Mesa Treatment Plants. Maynilad is entitled to 60% of raw water allocations but it has been getting less. This caused a significant drop in the level of Maynilad’s stored water supply, thus affecting service levels.

Maynilad and Manila Water met with the MWSS this morning to discuss the appropriate allocations of raw water supply for the West and East Zones. In this meeting, Manila Water committed to restore Maynilad’s 60% of raw water.

Only after this proper sharing of raw water is implemented can Maynilad start refilling its Bagbag Reservoir and gradually bring water supply for affected customers back to normal levels.

We are continuing to monitor the level of raw water entering our treatment facilities to ensure that the supply given will meet our requirements. Assuming that our raw water allocation increases to normal levels by this afternoon, it will take another three to four days to fill up our reservoir and build pressure in our pipelines. In which case, Maynilad customers who were affected by yesterday’s service interruption will continue to experience low pressure to no water supply daily, for the next three to four days, between the off-peak hours of 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. starting tonight, April 13 (Friday). Below is the list of affected areas.

However, if the raw water allocation does not increase by this afternoon, service interruptions in these same areas will become more unpredictable. We will announce these different service interruption schedules on a daily basis until such time as the supply stabilizes.

We will do what we can to prevent this latter scenario from happening.

Affected customers are advised to store water during times of the day when supply is available. Maynilad will continue to have water tankers on standby, ready to deliver water upon request.

We are constantly communicating with Manila Water to ensure the proper implementation of the 60-40 sharing of raw water, so we can protect the well-being of our customers.
