West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has reached more than 2,500 high school students in 2023 with its wastewater education drive, which aims to teach the youth about proper wastewater management for sustained community and environmental health.
Done in coordination with the Department of Education, the water company reached 36 high schools in Manila, Quezon City, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Pasay, and Parañaque last year with its education campaign on proper wastewater management. Maynilad utilizes an interactive learning module to help children apply proper sanitation and wastewater management in their everyday lives.
“Through this training, we aim to empower the Filipino youth to eventually become environmentally conscious adults who actively take part in the proper management of their household wastewater,” said Maynilad Wastewater Management head, Engr. Apollo C. Tiglao.
Since it started the program in 2016, Maynilad has conducted its Wastewater Management Education Module in 166 schools, reaching over 12,000 students. This 2024, the company aims to conduct its wastewater education drive in 28 schools across its concession area.
