West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is investing around P7.2 billion to improve and expand its water and wastewater services in Paranaque, Muntinlupa, Las Pinas and parts of Cavite province.
More than half of the allocated amount (P4.7 billion) will go to building a wastewater treatment plant in Muntinlupa and more than 50 kilometers of sewer pipelines in Paranaque and Muntinlupa.
Some P1.9 billion will be used to extend Maynilad’s primary lines in Bacoor and Imus, Cavite; Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and Pasay. These projects include the laying of secondary and tertiary pipes and takeover of subdivisions in Cavite.
Another P450 million will be spent on the construction of additional boosters and reservoirs, while some P84 million has been set aside to rehabilitate Maynilad’s network facilities and reinforce its pipes in the south. Maynilad also set aside P36 million for other operations support projects.
“Service expansion remains as our main goal for our customers in the South. We hope to address the issues of deepwell dependency and minimal wastewater coverage in the area through our massive, targeted investments,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
The West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern partstarting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati(west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in the Cavite Province.
