West Zone water concessionaire Maynilad recently began a P600-million pipelaying project along Coastal Road from Kabihasnan to Longos, Bacoor in Cavite. The construction of the 4.2 km mainline is expected to benefit more than 130,000 families in Las Pinas and Cavite once completed early next year.
The pipelaying project is part of Maynilad’s master plan for the South, which involves the construction of reservoirs, pumping stations and water treatment plant in the Pasay, Paranaque and Muntinlupa areas.
Communities in the South of Manila currently depend on deepwells and private water delivery companies for their water supply. With the completion of Maynilad’s service expansion projects, residents can finally have access to safe, reliable and affordable water.
For 2010, Maynilad has set aside P6.6 billion for its capital expenditure projects. Over P1.7 billion of the budget will be used by the company to upgrade its network of water facilities and reach unserved areas in the West Zone.
