Maynilad management and the company’s rank-and-file union—the Maynilad Water and Sewerage Union–Philippine Transportation and General Workers Organization (MWSU-PGTWO)—recently signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covering more than 1,100 rank-and-file employees of the water company.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the CBA was signed last November 29, 2021. Under the new CBA, Maynilad’s rank-and-file employees will be entitled to annual salary increases for two years, a signing bonus, and an increase in the health subsidy of their dependents.
This is another peaceful conclusion of a CBA with the rank-and-file union after only four negotiation meetings. The two-year CBA will be effective from January 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023.
Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez congratulated the negotiating panel of both parties for successfully concluding the CBA. He also thanked MWSU-PGTWO President Blesilda B. Tolentino and the union for keeping the interest of the company in mind during the negotiations, and for maintaining a fair assessment of the company’s current business situation.
For her part, Tolentino assured Management that the MWSU-PTGWO will continue to be an active partner in driving Maynilad toward business growth and customer service excellence.
“We thank the Management of Maynilad for continuing to promote the well-being of employees despite constraints brought on by the pandemic and the revisions to our Concession Agreement. The rank-and-file union commits to fully support the company so it can sustain the delivery of quality service to over 9.8 million Maynilad customers,” Tolentino said.
