As part of the celebration for the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently recognized its employees who made outstanding accomplishments in health and safety through its annual Maynilad Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Awards. Maynilad is the only company in the Philippines to adopt the biennial GKK Awards conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The Maynilad GKK Awards highlights the company’s support for the Zero Accident Program (ZAP) of the DOLE–Occupational Safety and Health Center (DOLE-OSHC). It seeks to instil consciousness on the value of promoting workers protection and welfare, maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, and implementing successful integrated quality, environment, safety and health programs.
“Each year, we continue to raise the level of employee awareness on the importance of health and safety practices. We want to emphasize that in Maynilad, looking after the health and safety of our employees is more than a program—it’s a lifestyle,” explains Maynilad president and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
