West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) was recognized for its environmental excellence and community development programs during the 8th Annual Global CSR Summit and Awards held recently in Bali, Indonesia.
The company won a Platinum Award under the Best Environmental Excellence Category for the development of its “Sanitation Safety Plan”, “Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollutants Inventory”, and “Energy Management System”.
Maynilad also bagged a Gold Award under the Best Community Program Category for its Twinning Partnership with Nepal for Non-Revenue Water Management.
“Beyond providing water and wastewater services, we in Maynilad always strive to create a bigger positive impact to society and the environment. This recognition is a firm validation of our success, and we are truly grateful for the honor,” said President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
The Global CSR Awards 2016 is Asia’s most prestigious recognition awards program for Corporate Social Responsibility. It recognizes outstanding and innovative programs that demonstrate the company’s leadership, sincerity and commitment in incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements, and respect for individuals, communities and the environment in the way they do business.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
