Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is extending its pipe network in the South to provide safe, reliable, and affordable water to Cavite residents by the 1st half of 2011. The P680-million project will benefit over 16,500 households and is expected to generate as much as 2,500 jobs.
The West zone concessionaire is laying 14.2km. of pipes along Aguinaldo Highway, and two parallel 3.5km. secondary pipes along Molino Boulevard in Bacoor.
The pipe-laying project is part of Maynilad’s plan to connect previously unreached customers in Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas and parts of Cavite. Water will be sourced from Maynilad’s recently completed PAGCOR Pumping Station to supply households previously dependent on deep wells, water refilling stations, and water delivery services.
Maynilad assures the delivery of safe drinking water that passes the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW). Customers are assured that Maynilad’s tap water is safe to drink and free from contaminants that may be found from individual shallow wells and deep wells, which are common sources of water in Cavite.
Maynilad customers also incur savings in their monthly water and electric expenses compared to those using electric water boosters and water delivery services. Aside from no longer needing electric water boosters, an average household can pay up to P1,100 per month at the usual P35/drum rate of water deliveries. Maynilad unsewered customers who consume not more than 20cu.m. per month pay about P342 each month.
To assist motorists, Maynilad is closely coordinating with the municipal governments of Bacoor and Imus to manage the traffic flow along the project. The work site will be fully enclosed by board-up barricades, with appropriate lighting and traffic/warning signs. Moreover, pipe laying is done from 10p.m. to 5a.m., when regular traffic is light. An additional 40 traffic aides are deployed in the work areas to help the passage of motorists.
Maynilad Water Services, Inc. is owned and managed by DMCI-MPIC Water Company, Inc. (DMWCI), a joint venture between Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) and DMCI Holdings, Inc. (DMCIHI).
