The meter lab features an advanced meter test bench, which determines meter accuracy by comparing the volume of water passing through a meter with its registered reading. This technology enables fast, efficient and precise measurements of water consumption. Currently located inside the Maynilad La Mesa Compound in Quezon City, the meter laboratory will eventually be moved to Pasay City, to make it more accessible to future clients.
“Not only does this facility save us money on meter testing, it also builds the knowledge and capabilities of Maynilad personnel in the field of meter management. This is important because we want to assure our customers that we accurately record and bill their consumption,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
Maynilad has a meter management team dedicated to improving billing accuracy and reducing meter malfunctions, which contribute to the company’s commercial losses or losses due to theft and inaccuracies in metering and data handling.
Maynilad estimates that its commercial losses account for 24% of its Non-Revenue Water (water losses).
To further improve its services, Maynilad has allotted more than P170 million this year alone for its meter replacement program, which will involve the upgrade of some 150,000 water meters throughout its concession area.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the MWSS for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindan ao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
