West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) received 34 more ISO certifications in 2017, bringing its total number of certificates to 243. This makes Maynilad the company with the most number of ISO certifications for multiple sites in the Philippines.
Maynilad’s company-wide ISO certificates, which covers 78 offices and facilities, now also includes its Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Commercial and Marketing, and Finance Divisions, as well as three new sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Quezon City.
Conferred by international auditing firm TUV Rheinland Philippines, these Maynilad offices and facilities passed the strict audit process for Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015) and Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (BS OHSAS 18001:2007)—proof that company processes meet stringent global standards.
“Bench-marking with international standards is part of our effort to keep operations efficient and to provide only the best service to our customers,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
Besides the triple ISO certifications conferred on 78 Maynilad sites, the company also earned ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates for its Program Management, Technical Services, Information Technology Services, and Human Resources Divisions, as well as for the offices of the President & CEO and the Chief Operating Officer.
The water company’s ISO journey started after its re-privatization in 2007 when its Dagat-dagatan Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant became the first wastewater facility of its kind in the Asia Pacific Region to receive triple ISO certifications.
Maynilad is also the first and only water company in the Philippines to receive the ISO 14064:2006 certification for the verification of its greenhouse gases or carbon footprint quantification and reporting initiative.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
