West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently turned over 100 isolation tents and hygiene kits to the University of the Philippines (UP) Alpha Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association, which is setting up a new 100-bed quarantine facility for COVID-19 patients at UP Diliman, Quezon City.
The photo shows UP Overall Head Volunteers Jershum Manglinong (center) and Atty. Mars Arias (right) during set-up of the isolation tents turned over by Maynilad Government Relations Head and UP alumna Antonette de Ocampo (left). Also among the donated items are shower and toilet facilities, beddings/mattresses, and water dispensers.
Maynilad’s Php1.7 million worth of donations for the quarantine facility in the UP Diliman Gymnasium is in support of the “Act as One Ph” initiative started by the members of the UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association last March 26, 2020, which has already provided assistance to almost 100 hospitals nationwide through donations of PPEs, supplies, medical equipment, and food. Said group has already established five frontliner shelters and quarantine facilities, including this new one in UP Diliman.
“As our country continues to battle this pandemic, we will continue to provide whatever assistance we can extend, to help reinforce the government’s COVID-19 relief efforts,” Maynilad said. Besides Maynilad, PLDT/Smart also contributed to this donation drive through the provision of brand new cellphones for use in the operations of the new quarantine facility in the UP Gymnasium.
