West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has reinforced its commitment to a harmonious and collaborative workplace by launching a comprehensive Labor Relations Training Program in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and labor unions.
This initiative, formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), aims to equip over 300 Maynilad managers with critical skills in labor standards, conflict resolution, and effective communication. Initial training sessions have begun, with full implementation scheduled for 2025.
“At Maynilad, we strive to create a workplace where respect, fairness, and collaboration thrive,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez. “This program underscores the important role our unions play in ensuring that every employee feels valued and heard.”
The training is designed to empower managers to act as ‘first responders’ to workplace concerns, enhancing their capabilities in addressing employee rights, management responsibilities, disciplinary procedures, and grievance handling.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma commended the partnership, calling it a model for public-private collaboration. “Labor education is key to fostering a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility in workplace governance. This partnership demonstrates how organizations can proactively support labor-management relations,” he said.
