West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) grew its customer population in its Cavite service areas by almost 134% since it\’s re-privatization in 2007. From only 28,581 accounts or 189,492 people by the end of 2006, Maynilad is now serving 66,785 accounts or 442,785 people by the third quarter of 2013.
Around 90% of Maynilad\’s Cavite-based customers have 24-hour water service and receive their water supply at an average pressure of 7 pounds per square inch (psi). It takes about 7 psi for water to reach the second floor of a building.
Prior to Maynilad’s entry into Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, Rosario and Cavite City, residents in these areas were heavily dependent on individual shallow wells and unsafe, expensive water deliveries from private deep well operators.
“There is still so much that needs to be done in our Cavite service areas. We will do everything we can to provide them with safe, reliable surface water,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
Maynilad estimates that there are around 700,000 people more in its Cavite service areas that are still not connected to its water distribution network.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the concessionaire of the MWSS for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
