West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently completed a Php218-million pipe replacement project in Quezon City. The initiative replaced three kilometers of aging, leaky pipelines across five barangays—Greater Fairview, Holy Spirit, Maharlika, Pag-Ibig sa Nayon and San Jose—addressing persistent issues in the 10 to 40-year-old distribution network.
This upgrade cut water losses by approximately 3.14 million liters per day (MLD)—enough to meet the daily requirements of approximately 21,000 customers. It also boosted supply pressure into a range of 7 to 11 psi (pounds per square inch), sufficient to deliver water to second- and third-floor fixtures without the need for booster pumps.
In 2024 alone, Maynilad replaced 142 kilometers of pipelines across its West Zone concession—including Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Pasay, Makati, Quezon City and Caloocan—backed by a Php 6 billion allocation for its Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Program. To date, the company has replaced roughly 70 percent of aging pipes in the West Zone and will continue these efforts to recover more water and further strengthen its network.
“I would like to thank the local government for their prompt support in granting permits for these projects. Their cooperation was vital to minimizing traffic disruptions and will ultimately benefit consumers through more reliable service,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
Since re-privatization in 2007, Maynilad has replaced around 3,264 kilometers of pipelines—equivalent to the distance from the Philippines to Japan—highlighting its effort towards advancing water infrastructure and service excellence.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire of Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) in the Philippines in terms of customer base. Its service area includes the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; and the cities of Cavite, Bacoor, and Imus, and the municipalities of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario, all in the province of Cavite.
