West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez delivered a presentation about climate-responsive solutions toward water and wastewater resilience during the 29th Philippine Water Works Association, Inc. (PWWA) International Conference & Exhibition held recently in Bohol. In his presentation, Fernandez discussed Maynilad’s various adaptation and mitigation measures in addressing the challenges that climate change poses on its operations. He shared the company’s novel and strategic approaches to water management, which have helped sustain service enhancements in the West Zone over the years, notwithstanding climate-related constraints.
One of the many climate adaptation initiatives of Maynilad is its diversification of water sources, such as the tapping of Laguna Lake as an alternative to Angat Dam; and, more recently, its move towards potable water reuse through NEW WATER, which is used water converted to potable supply that meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.
The 29th PWWA International Conference & Exhibition was attended by more than 1,000 delegates and exhibitors from local and foreign water utilities. It is organized annually by PWWA, an umbrella organization of professionals, government agencies, and private organizations in the Philippine water sector.
