West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) visited more than 10 schools and taught some 3,000 schoolchildren about the value of good health and hygiene, in celebration of this year’s Global Handwashing Day (GHD).
Maynilad went to 10 public elementary schools in Valenzuela, Quezon City, Manila, Las Piñas, Imus in Cavite, and Bustos in Bulacan to stress the importance of proper handwashing through fun and engaging games. Hygiene kits were also given to the participating students.
“Through Maynilad’s regular participation in this global campaign, we hope to increase the youth’s awareness that good health starts with proper handwashing. Children who take this learning to heart will help to create healthier communities in the future,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
Maynilad is conducting its GHD 2018 campaign in partnership with PhilHydro, Manila Bay Sunset Partnership, Bustos Water District, Safeguard, Jollibee, Colgate, Toys R Us, Cignal, Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, and Page One Media.
GHD is an international advocacy dedicated to promote proper handwashing with clean water and soap as an effective and affordable way of preventing diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia. Held every October 15, GHD is celebrated in over 1,000,000 schools in 100 countries by 200 million people.
