The activity formed part of Maynilad’s hygiene awareness campaign in partnership with the Department of Education, which included the donation of handwashing facilities and interactive learning sessions in selected public schools across Metro Manila.
West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) marked Global Handwashing Day 2025 by donating nine modular handwashing stations and conducting interactive hygiene education sessions in public schools across Las Piñas, Navotas, Quezon City, and Valenzuela.
Held in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the initiative engaged students and educators in practical handwashing demonstrations and discussions on proper hygiene—highlighting how simple, everyday habits can help prevent the spread of disease. The DepEd Schools Division Offices helped identify schools most in need of handwashing facilities within their jurisdictions.
“These efforts form part of Maynilad’s broader advocacy to promote public health and sanitation, particularly among communities in our concession area,” said Marie Antonette H. De Ocampo, Maynilad’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Communication. “By providing access to clean water and hygiene education, we aim to help shape lifelong habits that contribute to healthier schools and families.”
The newly installed handwashing stations allow students convenient access to clean water—especially before meals and after using the restroom—supporting a safer and more hygienic learning environment. Through the active involvement of teachers, the initiative is expected to benefit entire school populations beyond the one-day program.
To complement the turnover, Maynilad Water Academy conducted educational demonstrations showing how Maynilad treats and distributes clean, safe water to millions of customers, helping students appreciate the value of water and responsible use.
Through this annual observance, Maynilad continues to promote hygiene awareness and support schools in its service areas by improving access to handwashing facilities and empowering educators to sustain daily hygiene practices among students.
