Sixty-four licensed engineers formally joined the ranks of Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) after completing five months of rigorous training under the company’s Cadet Engineer Program.
The new batch of Maynilad cadet engineers were carefully selected from around 1,000 applicants all over the country. They underwent a series of core and leadership competency development programs and were immersed in the company’s operations to prepare them for the unique challenges of providing water and wastewater services in the West Zone.
Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez and other top company officials graced the graduation rites held recently at the University of the Philippines-Diliman College of Engineering Theater. Also present to give his inspirational message to the cadets was professional basketball player/ businessman Christopher Tiu.
Guia Publico—Magna Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines and board placer in the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination—emerged as the class valedictorian of this batch.
The cadet engineers have been deployed to Maynilad’s Wastewater Management, Logistics, Water Supply Operations, and Program Management Divisions to further hone their technical skills and reinforce the organization’s workforce.
The Maynilad Cadet Engineer Program, recognized by the International Water Association as the Best Professional Development Program in 2014, aims to develop young engineers to assume a long-term career in the company and the water industry. The program also serves to enhance the technical and business continuity capabilities of Maynilad.
