In support of the nationwide initiative to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, Maynilad has distributed hygiene packs containing alcohol, hand sanitizers, and washable face masks to some 1,200 urban poor families in Quezon City, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, and Cavite. The photo shows Maynilad personnel distributing the hygiene packs to the 115 families in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City. Maynilad is pursuing this donation drive in partnership with its two social enterprise communities, Samahang Tubig Maynilad (STM)-Tondo and STM-Riverview, which started out as water cooperatives that later received skills training to become producers of home-care products and clothing items. Maynilad has also been implementing other relief activities to assist the government in battling the COVID-19 pandemic. These include the donation of isolation tents and hygiene kits for the new 100-bed quarantine facility in the University of the Philippines Gymnasium, the set-up of free metering and piping works to connect the quarantine center at the Philippine Arena to water supply from its subsidiary PhilHydro, and the provision of free water supply for the treatment facilities at the World Trade Center, Philippine International Convention Center, and Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, among other initiatives.
