Maynilad replaces old pipes in Villamor Air Base
November 26, 2016
West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has begun replacing 3.2 kilometers of old, leaky water pipes within the Col. Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, to improve water quality and pressure inside the Philippine Air Force (PAF) facility.
The ₱21.8-million project is being implemented to improve the existing water distribution network inside the facility, which is almost four decades old. Once completed by yearend, more than 4,000 PAF military and civilian personnel inside the Air Base will enjoy improved water pressure from the current 14 psi (pounds per square inch) to 17 psi.
“Water is important in our day-to-day operations. We are grateful to Maynilad for always supporting the Philippine Air Force’s functions by relentlessly improving its water service in Villamor Air Base," PAF Vice Commander, Maj. Gen. Conrado Parra, said.
Villamor Air Base is the center of PAF operations in the country. Aside from being an aerodrome of mostly non-combat air units, which includes military helicopters and airplanes, the air base is home to PAF’s technical and engineering support, management and administration offices, and PAF’s General Hospital.
“We are happy to note that through the provision of reliable water supply, we are able to help the men of women of the military who dedicate their lives to serving our country," said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
