West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad), together with the Department of Interior and Local Government Region IV-A (DILG RIV-A), is holding a series of community briefings for local government officials to help promote septic tank cleaning (desludging) services among Cavite residents.
The initiative aims to increase awareness on how to avail of Maynilad’s septic tank cleaning services, and to strengthen LGU support of these desludging services.
“This partnership with the DILG reinforces our efforts to tie up with local government officials in ensuring that Maynilad customers avail of our septic tank cleaning services. Through the full support of the LGUs, we can better convince people to avail of the service, which is necessary to reduce pollution load in waterways,” said President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
Part of Maynilad’s mandate is to provide sanitation services in unsewered areas of the West concession. Sanitation services pertain to the cleaning or desludging of household septic tanks every 5 to 7 years, and it comes at no extra cost to the residential and semi-business customers of Maynilad. Regular desludging prevents spilling of septage into drainage lines, thus averting environmental contamination and the spreading of water-borne diseases.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
