Maynilad receives SOPI Award of Excellence

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has been conferred an Award of Excellence for achieving an exemplary record of over 16 million safe man-hours of exposure without lost time accident in a span of four years (November 2011 to October 2015).
Conferred by the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI), the Industrial Safety Awards aims to give recognition to SOPI members for providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace that result either to Zero Lost Time Accident Record or an extensive reduction in frequency rates of accidents and injuries.
Maynilad, first time entrant, received the search’s highest award as it surpassed the minimum Award of Excellence milestone of seven million safe man-hours of exposure without lost time accident.
About 40 companies were recognized at the awarding ceremony held during SOPI’s 48th National Industrial Safety Convention at the Taal Vista Hotel last December 3–4, 2015.
“This milestone is proof of Maynilad’s commitment to continually improve its safety and health policies and programs that ensure the safety and health of our workers and the protection of our facilities and our environment,” said Engr. Francisco A. Arellano, head of Maynilad’s Corporate Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (CQESH).
Prior to receiving the SOPI Award of Excellence, Maynilad has been recognized by the Department of Labor and Employment’s Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan Awards in 2010 and 2012 for its involvement in community service and safety programs, which include project and facilities safety audit and inspection, emergency preparedness and response trainings and drills, workplace environment measurement, continuous education on safety and health for all employees and vendors, evaluation of construction safety and health program for all projects, and involvement in rescue and relief operations.
