Maynilad donates P2M, potable water to Typhoon Pablo victims

December 11, 2012

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) donated P2 million to the TV5 Alagang Kapatid Foundation for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Pablo.

“Christmas is really about sharing one’s blessings so we decided to cancel our company Christmas party this year and donate the money instead to the typhoon victims. Our people likewise donated money from their Employee Fund. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this very trying time,” Maynilad President and CEO Ricky Vargas said.

Besides the P2 million cash donation, Maynilad also sent 2,160 gallons of potable water and deployed its mobile water treatment plant to the severely affected areas in Mindanao (Surigao del Sur, Brgy. Lingig, Hinatuan, Agusan, New Bataan, Compostela Valley, and Davao Oriental), so calamity-stricken residents in the area could be provided with safe, drinking water. Maynilad’s mobile water treatment plant can treat up to 3,000 gallons of water per day.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
