Maynilad Water Services, Inc. President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas (third from left) receives a plaque of appreciation from Jakarta Water Supply Regulatory Body (JWSRB) Secretary Harri Baskoro (fourth from left) after the JWSRB met with the West Zone concessionaire to learn about the latter’s experience as a private entity managing water and wastewater services under government regulators.
"We are honored by this opportunity to share our experience with our Indonesian neighbors. We hope that today's knowledge exchange has enriched their understanding of the regulatory environment in the Greater Manila area," said Maynilad President and CEO Ricky P. Vargas.
The JWSRB, which was formed as an independent regulatory body that handles the management of concessions and tariff increases, wishes to benchmark with its neighboring countries on water regulation practices so it can fulfill its mandate as an effective and accountable regulator and mediator in Jakarta.
